Grass­lands Na­tional Park host­ing ma­jor sum­mer cel­e­bra­tion


Grass­lands Na­tional Park is cel­e­brat­ing Canada’s 150th an­niver­sary in a big way this sum­mer.

A Canada 150 Cel­e­bra­tion Like No Other is set for July 28 to 30 in the Vil­lage of Val Marie and the West Block at Grass­lands Na­tional Park. The three day cel­e­bra­tion boasts a jam packed agenda, in­clud­ing Na­tional Hockey League leg­end Bryan Trottier who was re­cently se­lected one of the top 100 Great­est NHL Play­ers.

“We’re re­ally ex­cited to in­vite our home­town hockey hero Bryan Trottier to come down for the week­end,” ad­mit­ted Car­rie Clausen, an In­ter­pre­ta­tion Of­fi­cer at Grass­lands Na­tional Park.

Clausen, who was one of the morn­ing pre­sen­ters at Tourism Swift Cur­rent’s sev­enth an­nual 49˚ by 110˚ Spring Con­fer­ence on April 28, said their sum­mer cel­e­bra­tion is be­ing hosted in con­junc­tion with part­ner the Vil­lage of Val Marie.

“We want ev­ery­body to come out and en­joy the South­west and what we have to of­fer down here. It’s just an amaz­ing place to be,” Clausen said.

She is also hop­ing that once peo­ple see what the park has to of­fer, they will con­tinue to grow their at­ten­dance num­bers.

“Once you get peo­ple out to the park they’re go­ing to love it, and they’re go­ing to go tell their friends, and they’re go­ing to want to pro­tect that park and that space.”
