Grasslands National Park hosting major summer celebration
Grasslands National Park is celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary in a big way this summer.
A Canada 150 Celebration Like No Other is set for July 28 to 30 in the Village of Val Marie and the West Block at Grasslands National Park. The three day celebration boasts a jam packed agenda, including National Hockey League legend Bryan Trottier who was recently selected one of the top 100 Greatest NHL Players.
“We’re really excited to invite our hometown hockey hero Bryan Trottier to come down for the weekend,” admitted Carrie Clausen, an Interpretation Officer at Grasslands National Park.
Clausen, who was one of the morning presenters at Tourism Swift Current’s seventh annual 49˚ by 110˚ Spring Conference on April 28, said their summer celebration is being hosted in conjunction with partner the Village of Val Marie.
“We want everybody to come out and enjoy the Southwest and what we have to offer down here. It’s just an amazing place to be,” Clausen said.
She is also hoping that once people see what the park has to offer, they will continue to grow their attendance numbers.
“Once you get people out to the park they’re going to love it, and they’re going to go tell their friends, and they’re going to want to protect that park and that space.”
