SCCHS track and field sea­son un­der­way

The Swift Cur­rent Comp. High School track and field team got its sea­son un­der­way with an in­tra-squad meet on Wed­nes­day and then was in Moose Jaw on Satur­day to com­pete against 37 other teams at Gutheridge Field.

The Colts and Ar­dens fin­ished the meet with 302 points, sec­ond be­hind only Moose Jaw AE Pea­cock out of 38 teams.

High­light­ing the meet was a record break­ing jump from Brielle Wall, who cleared the bar at 1.61 me­tres to move past the pre­vi­ous record of 1.60 me­tres in Mid­get Girls High Jump. Wall also placed sec­ond in Long Jump with a 4.53-me­tre leap.

Kalea Sauder got the Ar­dens to the top of the podium with a win in the Ju­nior Girls 80 Me­tre Hur­dles in 12.45 sec­onds. She added a sec­ond­place show­ing in High Jump, clear­ing the bar at 1.57 me­tres. The sopho­more ath­lete added a third-place fin­ish in the Long Jump with a top jump of 4.68 me­tres.

Ar­dens’ rookie Jan­nae Carl­son added a win in the Mid­get Girls 400 Me­tres in 1:08.69.

Eric Wiebe was an event win­ner for the Colts when he topped the Se­nior Boys 100 Me­tre Hur­dles in 15.61 sec­onds.

Ally Janzen fin­ished the 200 Me­tres in 29.99 sec­onds to place sec­ond amongst Ju­nior Girls sprint­ers, while Aleah Nickel fin­ished the Ju­nior Girls 800 Me­tres in 2:42.67 to place sec­ond.

Jenna Mcdon­ald placed sec­ond in the Ju­nior Girls 100 Me­tre Dash in 13.52 sec­onds. She was also sec­ond in the 400 Me­tres in 1:07.52.

Theo Lautsch placed sec­ond in the Ju­nior Boys 800 Me­tres in 2:24.49. Lautsch added a third-place fin­ish in the Ju­nior Boys 1,500 Me­tres in 5:08.39.

Mikayla Swal­low fin­ished sec­ond in Se­nior Girls Long Jump with a 4.54-me­tre ef­fort.

Swal­low also placed third in Dis­cus with a 24.43-me­tre heave.

Ash­ley Mcdon­ald placed sec­ond in the Mid­get Girls 80 Me­tre Hur­dles in 14.30 sec­onds.

Mcdon­ald was third in the Mid­get Girls 100 Me­tre Dash in 13.65 sec­onds. She was also third in the 200 Me­tres in 28.27 sec­onds.

Wes­ley Abi added a third­place fin­ish in the Se­nior Boys 100 Me­tres in 11.36 sec­onds.

Mal­isa Col­lier was third in the Se­nior Girls 800 Me­tres in 2:57.34.

Jor­dan La­mon­tagne was third in the Mid­get Boys 800 Me­tres in 2:33.92. He also fin­ished third in the 400 Me­tres in 58.73 sec­onds.

Dal­ton Chaulk added a third-place fin­ish in the Ju­nior Boys 400 Me­tres in 57.46 sec­onds.

Cole Meyer added a third place fin­ish in the Ju­nior Boys Javelin with a 34-me­tre throw. Re­gan Martin re­turned to the track for the Colts to win the Se­nior Boys Quad with 2,147 points, while Bran­den Le­may was third with 2,088 points. Ryan Lee added a sec­ond-place fin­ish for the Colts in the Ju­nior Boys Quad with 1,604 points.

Tianna Knight won the Ju­nior Girls Quad with 1,642 points, fol­lowed by team­mate Maddy Mccleary with 1,553 points.

The team also got top-three fin­ishes from three re­lay teams. The Ju­nior Boys were third in 51.18 sec­onds in the 4x100 Me­tres. The Ar­dens were sec­ond in Mid­get Girls 4x100 Me­tres in 55.92 sec­onds and the Ar­dens were third in the 4x400 Me­tres in 5:14.49.

The Colts and Ar­dens will be at home this weekend for their an­nual SCCHS In­vi­ta­tional Track and Field Meet on Satur­day.
