Driver charged with im­paired af­ter pedes­trian struck

A fe­male pedes­trian wasn’t in­jured when she was struck by a ve­hi­cle Tues­day night, St. Thomas po­lice say. Of­fi­cers were re­spond­ing to re­ports of a dis­tur­bance be­tween two men near the cor­ner of Talbot Street and St. Catharine Street at about 9:30 p.m. when they saw one of the men drive away. The ve­hi­cle struck the pedes­trian and headed north on St. Catharine Street, po­lice said. Of­fi­cers stopped the ve­hi­cle near Kains Street and took the driver into cus­tody. Cannabis was found in the ve­hi­cle, po­lice said. A 33-year-old St. Thomas man is charged with im­paired driv­ing, fail­ing to re­main at the scene of an ac­ci­dent and drug pos­ses­sion.
