Live ar­tillery shell found in Lon­don

Lon­don po­lice’s bomb squad was called in af­ter a live ar­tillery shell found at a north end con­struc­tion site was brought to a Vic­to­ria Street ad­dress by the per­son who found it. The ex­plo­sive dis­posal unit ar­rived at the home at 9:15 a.m. Wed­nes­day af­ter the caller found the shell near High­bury Av­enue and Ki­lally Road, po­lice said. Po­lice called the Cana­dian Forces Ex­plo­sive Or­di­nance Dis­posal unit at CFB Bor­den who de­ter­mined the 55-cen­time­tre long mil­i­tary or­di­nance was live. The shell was taken to a dis­posal site in Lon­don and ren­dered safe, po­lice said.
