Agency out more than $27,000

The Psy­chi­atric Sur­vivors Net­work of El­gin (PSNE) is get­ting $27,000 less from the city af­ter so­cial ser­vices reeval­u­ated fund­ing for home­less­ness pre­ven­tion. The agency was granted the fund­ing when it opened its res­i­den­tial ser­vice, but fol­low­ing build­ing code vi­o­la­tions it was forced to close units that were be­ing used and there’s no in­di­ca­tion they will re­open. The net­work wasn’t alone — Fresh Start Ma­ter­nity Sup­ports was al­lo­cated more than $17,000 but the pro­gram closed sud­denly and so the city took its money back. Inn Out of the Cold will re­ceive more than $25,000 to go to­ward salaries for a sys­tem nav­i­ga­tor and on-site shel­ter man­ager. YWCA will re­ceive al­most $19,000 to help fund salaries for a case man­ager and hous­ing sys­tems de­vel­oper and a train­ing ses­sion. Coun­cil re­ceived a re­port de­tail­ing the fund­ing changes at Mon­day’s meet­ing.
