Legendary Blue Jay George Bell will be one of the big draws at the St. Thomas Sports Spectacular.

Bell played 12 seasons with the Jays and is a member of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

“George ranks seventh in the alltime list of greatest Blue Jays,” said organizer Gary Clarke. “He’s in the Circle of Excellence that the Blue Jays have.”

The event is in its 41st year and will benefit the local Special Olympics and Community Living Elgin. It has raised more than $500,000 over four decades.

Along with Bell, WWE tag team Ax and Smash, Olympic gold medalist Alex Kopacz of London, Blue Jays broadcaster Mike Wilner, former Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Mike Palmateer, Stanley Cup champion Derian Hatcher and Blue Jays pitcher Sam Gaviglio will be featured at the Sports Spectacular.

“We pretty well sell out every year. Last year we actually let extra tickets go because Roberto Alomar was such a huge draw,” Clarke said. “We’re thinking George Bell will be same thing.”

Former Toronto Blue Jays George Bell throws out the ceremonial first pitch against theTexas Rangers in game five of the American League Division Series in Toronto in 2015.
