SOUTH STORMONT – SDG OPP have re­leased more de­tails about the two fa­tal col­li­sions on High­way 401 west of Corn­wall last week. OPP said Jas­min Cam­peau, 31, of Corn­wall, was east­bound on the high­way at about 12:30 p.m. on Fri­day, Sept. 8, when he died af­ter col­lid­ing with an east­bound trac­tor-trailer near the In­gle­side / Dick­in­son Road ex­change. The driver of the trans­port truck was not in­jured. Cam­peau was the se­cond per­son to die on the high­way last week. At 11:27 p.m. on Thurs­day, Sept. 7, three trac­tor-trail­ers col­lided as they were east­bound on the high­way just past the Moulinette Road ex­change. One trac­tor-trailer ini­ti­ated the in­ci­dent, which caused a chain re­ac­tion send­ing a se­cond trac­tor-trailer – which caught fire – into a third. The driver of the se­cond trac­tor­trailer died in the col­li­sion and has not yet been pos­i­tively iden­ti­fied. SDG OPP, with the as­sis­tance of traf­fic col­li­sion in­ves­ti­ga­tors, are con­tin­u­ing their in­ves­ti­ga­tions into these two col­li­sions.
