Victory for Rebs
WILLIAMSTOWN — The Char-Lan Rebels picked up a weekend win, 5-3 over the Embrun Panthers in Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2 play on Saturday night in Williamstown. The Rebels got two-goal, one-assist performances from Brennan Markell and Derek Lister, and Pierre-Luc Sabourin scored once. Jason Cossette and Parker Tallman each had a pair of assists for Char-Lan, which is 3-8 and in seventh place in the Martin Division. Thirdplace Embrun fell to 7-5. Darien Johnson blocked 31 of 34 shots to get the goaltending win. • Meanwhile at the Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria on Saturday night, the Glens dropped a 4-3 decision in overtime to the Perth Blue Wings. Anthony Douchant’s goal 2:31 into the extra session brought the game to a sudden halt. Perth had a big rally late in the third period to get the contest to an extra session, rallying from a 3-1 deficit with a pair of goals in 78 seconds, including the equalizer with 12 seconds to go and with an extra attacker on the ice. Austin Ladouceur scored twice for the Glens, and Sam Lacroix singled.
