Time for try­outs

it’ll soon be try­out time, for ath­letes look­ing to suit up for the Corn­wall Wild­cats in 2018 Na­tional Cap­i­tal Am­a­teur Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion (NCAFA) play.

The NCAFA is a com­pet­i­tive trav­el­ling league and a leader in tackle foot­ball in the Ot­tawa area since 1955. Games are played in the late sum­mer and fall on Sun­days, and teams gen­er­ally prac­tise twice a week.

Corn­wall Wild­cats teams to be en­tered in 2018 NCAFA ac­tion are at the Tyke level (turn­ing 7-9 years of age), Mosquito cat­e­gory (10-11), Pee­wee di­vi­sion (12-13) and ban­tam loop (14-15).

The tyke squad will be coached by Kirby Cam­plin, and the first try­out is on Sun­day, July 22, from 3-5 p.m. The tyke team will com­pete in the sea­son-open­ing Tyke Fest that’s held in Ot­tawa each year, a mini­tour­na­ment in­volv­ing all of the NCAFA squads. This year’s Tyke Fest will be held on Aug. 12.

Corn­wall’s mosquito level team will be coached by Nick Bel­monte, and the first try­out is on Sun­day, July 22, from 3-5:30 p.m.

Cam­plin will be do­ing dou­ble duty, guid­ing the pee­wee Wild­cats squad, which has its first try­out on July 22 from 5:30-8 p.m.

And the Corn­wall ban­tam squad, coached by Dakota Kennedy, will also have its in­au­gu­ral work­out on July 22 from 5:30-8 p.m.
