An open let­ter to Stor­mont-Dun­das-South Glen­garry MPP Jim McDonell:

In the pos­si­ble up­com­ing free vote in the On­tario leg­is­la­ture, I urge you vote against the use of the not­with­stand­ing clause.

Whether or not you agree with the judge’s rul­ing the coun­cil law was in­valid, the use of this clause would be an out­ra­geous abuse of power.

Your con­stituents are watch­ing and will rely on you to re­spect the in­sti­tu­tions that form the foun­da­tion of our democ­racy, re­gard­less of the par­ti­san po­si­tion your party may take.
