Vote against it
An open letter to Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry MPP Jim McDonell:
In the possible upcoming free vote in the Ontario legislature, I urge you vote against the use of the notwithstanding clause.
Whether or not you agree with the judge’s ruling the council law was invalid, the use of this clause would be an outrageous abuse of power.
Your constituents are watching and will rely on you to respect the institutions that form the foundation of our democracy, regardless of the partisan position your party may take.
