Spe­cial evening in Stanstead

On Jan­uary 22, 2011, an in­ti­mate group of ticket hold­ers will have the op­por­tu­nity to cel­e­brate the East­ern Town­ships and sup­port youth dur­ing “One Night on the 45th Par­al­lel”, a unique fundraiser evening that will in­clude a meal at La Vieille Douane res­tau­rant, a tour of Stanstead’s Border The­atre, a visit to Stanstead’s Stone Cir­cle and a con­cert at Check­point Char­lie, fea­tur­ing lo­cal bands Jug­gling Em­bers and Jake and the Lep­rechauns.

For an af­ford­able price per ticket, guests will par­take in an au­then­tic Greek meal at La Vieille Douane res­tau­rant (sit­u­ated at the his­toric Rock Is­land border cross­ing in Stanstead, Que­bec). This sump­tu­ous meal will be fol­lowed by a guided tour of Stanstead’s Border The­atre as well as a visit to Stanstead’s Stone Cir­cle, a per­ma­nent gran­ite in­stal­la­tion lo­cated di­rectly on the 45th par­al­lel. The evening will end with a one-of-a-kind con­cert at Check­point Char­lie pub, fea­tur­ing two lo­cal bands: open­ing act Jug­gling Em­bers and head­lin­ers Jake and the Lep­rechauns.

In ad­di­tion to all of this, guests will get an op­por­tu­nity to greet a group of young grad­u­ates and pro­fes­sion­als who will be vis­it­ing the Estrie as part of a Make Way for YOUth Dis­cov­ery Days week­end. These young vis­i­tors will be ea­ger to meet and min­gle with guests, and learn more about why they chose to make the Estrie re­gion their home. The soirée will pro­vide an ideal net­work­ing op­por­tu­nity for any­one in­ter­ested in de­vel­op­ing – or strength­en­ing – con­nec­tions within the English-speak­ing com­mu­nity of the East­ern Town­ships.
