Sunnyside Students Financing Trip To Capitol
Fifth and sixth grade students at Sunnyside school are planning an overnight trip to Ottawa in June. The students will be visiting Parliament and the RCMP stables. Teachers Tammy Mosher and Dan Aucoin, with the help of their students and parents, have been heading up the fundraising campaign.
The trip will cost approximately $230 per student. There are 27 students, so the kids have to raise $6,210. According to Miss Mosher, the students and the parents have been very enthusiastic and have demonstrated a great deal of commitment to ensuring that enough money is raised to allow every student to attend.
Parents such as Dan Waller and Brenda Tilton have found creative ways to donate. During the Winter Fun Day festivities the Tilton’s provided pony rides and raised $176 for the class trip., while Dan Waller took a Polar Plunge and donated his $50 prize to the class trip.
The following are the scheduled upcoming fundraising events: Spaghetti Dinner Thursday, February 24th Time: 4:00 – 7:00 PM Tickets: $7 at the door Location: Sunnyside School

The students are planning more activities in the upcoming months, as only half the money has been raised to date. Both teachers and students would appreciate the support of the community and hope to see a great turn out at their events. It is important to remember that we are supporting children who have committed themselves to financing their own trip. Please encourage their sense of industry and resourcefulness.
