Last week, Galt’s se­nior boys bas­ket­ball team played Marie Rivier, beat­ing them 69 to 59. Bran­don Wright was Galt’s top scorer with 26 points. Cameron Mur­phy scored 18 while Alex Machard scored 12. Ryan Mar­rotte scored 6 points. In a sec­ond game against Marie Rivier, the se­nior boys won again with an­other close score of 64 to 54. Bran­don Wright scored 20 points while Alex Machard scored 14 points.

Galt’s se­nior girls bas­ket­ball team played Stanstead last week, win­ning 49 to 8. Sa­man­tha Young scored 9 points for Galt while Char­lene Graham and Cyn­thia Dupont scored 8 each. Galt’s se­nior girls also beat Rich­mond last week, 83 to 11. Galt’s top scor­ers were Kel­ley Hur­dle with 14, Caryn Van Zuiden with 11, Katie Mur­ray and Rose Mackin­non with 8 points each. Galt’s ju­nior girls bas­ket­ball team played Rich­mond Re­gional last week, win­ning 41 to 25. Top scor­ers for Galt were Eliane Wub­bolts with 14 and Cas­san­dra Bouchard with 10 points. Top scorer for Rich­mond Re­gional was Syd­ney Grainger with 9 points.

The reg­u­lar sea­son for ETIAC bas­ket­ball has ended and the play­offs are tak­ing place this week. The fi­nal stand­ings for the girls bas­ket­ball teams for the reg­u­lar sea­son have been posted. In the ban­tam divi­sion, Galt’s Pipers took first place with 8 wins, no losses for a to­tal of 16 points. Rich­mond was sec­ond with 8 points while Massey Vanier and Galt’s ‘Galt’ team tied for third with 6 points each. Massey Vanier and Bishop’s Col­lege School tied for first in the ju­nior divi­sion with 12 points each, 6 wins and 3 losses. Galt was sec­ond with 10 points and Rich­mond was third with 0 points. Galt’s se­nior team fin­ished in first place with 16 points, 8 wins and 0 losses. Stanstead, BCS and MVR all tied for sec­ond with 8 points each while Rich­mond fin­ished last with 0 points.

In the first play­off games on Mon­day, Galt’s ju­nior girls were beaten by BCS 36 to 25 and MVR beat Rich­mond 47 to 19. MVR beat BCS 44 to 28 in the fi­nal. In the ju­nior boys semi­fi­nal, Stanstead Col­lege beat MVR 55 to 35 while BCS beat Galt 42 to 32. Stanstead beat BCS in the fi­nal 52 to 35.
