Kan­da­har photo ex­hibit tour will stop at Bishop’s

Kan­da­har Through Afghan Eyes 2010 / Kan­da­har à travers les yeux de je­unes Afghans 2010, a trav­el­ling photo ex­hibit from the Cana­dian In­ter­na­tional De­vel­op­ment Agency (CIDA) will be shown at Bishop’s Univer­sity, in the Cen­ten­nial Theatre lobby, from Fe­bru­ary 22 to March 11, as part of its cross-coun­try tour. This bilin­gual ex­hibit was launched in Kan­da­har City in May 2010 and con­sists of 30 pho­to­graphs, ac­com­pa­nied by a poem or nar­ra­tive cre­ated by 15 male and fe­male stu­dents se­lected from schools through­out Kan­da­har City. The stu­dents vis­ited dif­fer­ent parts of the Afghan prov­ince, and pho­tographed a wide range of themes of the daily lives of Kan­da­haris in a man­ner that has, un­til now, rarely been seen by those out­side the prov­ince. The ex­hibit marks the fi­nal event of the sec­ond an­nual In­ter­na­tional De­vel­op­ment Week at Bishop’s, which was pri­mar­ily held from Jan. 31 – Feb. 3.

The ex­hibit is free, and the pub­lic is wel­come to view it in the Cen­ten­nial Theatre lobby’s be­tween 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mon­day through Fri­day.
