Last Chance to be at the old arena
Comingup this Friday and Saturday at the old arena of Stanstead College, is a series of events “Good-bye to the ‘ol barn.” Many of us have very fond memories of the arena and we need to be sure to say good bye to our beloved place.
This is the last month the arena will be open….the last one forever. On Friday the 8th. A great show, CABIN FEVER. Rated 16+.
It’s a true vaudeville type act with wrestling-burlesque-rock ‘n roll combination. The event is just like those we used to have at the old arena back in the 1950’s. Tickets are on sale for 20$ each or if you
buy 4 you’ll get the 5th ticket for free. Tickets can be purchased from me, Bev and Nellie Goodsell, at the Arena, Ziv and others. Ziv will be at IGA this week selling tickets.
The doors open at 7:30 p.m. and we’ll start the show after 8 p.m. There will be a Cash bar.
Please buy a ticket and get your friends to come out and have a good time. Then Saturday, April 9th, its family day. With the great help of Pat Gautier and the Stanstead Cultural and Recreational Center volunteers we will have some fun activities. Funds raised during that day will be split between the center and the Pat Burns Arena. There is no admission charge. We have a special deal on lunch 2$ for a hot dog/chips and a drink. after 7pm. ! " # $ % & get into the fund raising and collect a few dollars for the Pat Burns Arena as well as get some good exercise, a Memory Board will be set up for people to pin their photos and articles. Plus Raffle tickets for sale for some fun prizes. Try your luck. Money goes to the Stanstead Cultural and Recreational Centre.
From 11 till 2, Richard Stone will be selling dogs/chips and drink for 2$ and Off the Ice Activites: Crafts, Balloons, Face Painting. At 11:30 Accuracy and Hardest shot followed by the Noon Shootout, fees for player, shared with the winner and The Stanstead Cultural and Recreational Centre. Test your skating skills at 12:30! Then at 1:30 – 3:00 it’s ‘ol timers skate. At two, a ceremony to honour those who have played long hours, followed by ‘ol timers game with players from 1970/1990’s, then the Chuck a Puck contest at 3 pm. Followed a quarter of an hour later by the ‘Mags’ Hockey Games, for the little kids. We’ll split the ice in two and have two games on the ice at the same time. And from 4:00-5:30 Free Skating and the Raffle Prizes will be drawn during this time. And finally at 6, Border Minor Canada USA Coaches game.
Join the fun and support the activities in Stanstead. A lot of people are working hard to make these events successful but without participants they won’t be good. Tell all your friends and family.
