Cats and birds inspire art
Lookingfor an interesting cultural event this Friday night ? Head down to the Gallery “Café Au Vieux Presbytère “, 350 Compton Street East, in Waterville. Starting at 5:30 p.m. till 6:30 p.m., you can admire the art works, followed at 7:00 p.m. by a “Table d’Hôte” vegetarian meal by reservation only.
The Gallery “Café Au Vieux Presbytère” is presenting “Le chat et l’oiseau”, an exhibit by visual artist Brigitte Blanchet, from Friday, April 8th (opening night vernissage) until May 8th, 2011.
Spring is in the air and also in the recent art works by visual artist Brigitte Blanchet. She captivates a visual dialogue between her cat as her live model, in pen and ink drawings and mixed media paintings. During a short stay in France, she was inspired after taking a creative workshop on wire sculptures. In her exhibit, we can almost hear chirping sounds from her linear wire sculptured birds, peeking from atop the edge of chosen cat paintings.
We can feel a childlike curiosity springing from her artistic palette!
