2011 Unite and Ig­nite Youth Con­fer­ence in Ot­tawa

Town­ship­pers’As­so­ci­a­tion re­cently sent four mem­bers of its Youth Coun­cil to the Unite and Ig­nite Youth Con­fer­ence in Ot­tawa, On­tario. Elise Brown-Dussault, Emilly Hu­bert and Alexandra Dougherty, ac­com­pa­nied by sup­port­ive adult Jenny Me­nard, re­ported that the con­fer­ence was a life-chang­ing ex­pe­ri­ence for them. This event was the first ma­jor out­ing or­ga­nized by the coun­cil, and the youth en­joyed it so much that they plan to re­turn next year with other mem­bers of the coun­cil.

The Town­ship­pers’ group rep­re­sented the vast­ness of our re­gion well and in­cluded a stu­dent from each of three dif­fer­ent, lo­cal high schools – A.S. John­son Me­mo­rial School in Thet­ford Mines, Rich­mond Re­gional High School in Rich­mond and Alexan­der Galt High School in Sher­brooke Four mem­bers of Town­ship­pers’ As­so­ci­a­tion’s Youth Coun­cil went to Ot­tawa to take part in the Unite and Ig­nite Youth Con­fer­ence.
