Galt’ssenior girls basketball team competed at the provincial basketball tournament at Ecole Secondaire St. Laurent on April 8, 9, 10. The team was ranked 10th out of 16 teams going into the championship and finished in 5th place. In Game 1, Galt beat College Laval while in Game 2, the team lost to the host team and eventual provincial championship winner. In Game 3, the Galt girls beat College Saint Paul. The tournament was clearly a battle for second, as the team that won was head and shoulders better than the other teams and is one of the premier teams in the country. It is unfortunate that Galt met them in the second round as the coaches felt the team matched up well with all the teams who finished 2nd to 4th. “Certainly I am thrilled with the result: we competed hard, peaked at the right time and have clearly learned
they went to Montreal. from mistakes made earlier in the season. We have some young talent that is now on the radar screen of post secondary schools and that is great for our players in the next couple of years to follow,” commented coach Steve Dunn. “Family members in everyone’s home gave us all the time and support system to work, improve and grow. The season was truly a collaborative effort between our basketball family and our families at home!” he added.
