Sunnyside looking for local talent
Sunnyside School is hosting a Community Talent Show at the school on June 2nd, 6:30 PM. By ‘community’ they don’t mean their students, but everybody from the larger community. This means students may have to share the spotlight with Uncle Bob, who plays a mean set of spoons, and Aunt Sally, who believes her ventriloquist act with the aardvark sock puppet is actually funny. The talent show is an opportunity for every family member to get on stage and show the community their hidden, or not so hidden, talents.
Auditions are being held at the school on May 12th, at the end of the school day.
The objective of this event is threefold. The funds raised from the event will go toward the purchase of a new sound system for the gymnasium. The raising of funds and organiza- tion of the event contribute to the students’ confidence and sense of responsibility, while at the same time offering the children and their families a fun-filled evening together in the children’s learning milieu. Just to add to the allure, teachers will be performing as well, so that in itself should make the evening worth the rice of admission.
In order to make the evening a success, community members are being called upon to step out of their comfort zone and consider taking the stage in the name of a good cause. The auditions will take place May 12th at Sunnyside at the end of the school day.
There will also be baked goods and coffee sold at the event as part of the fundraiser. Tickets are being sold by students and can also be purchased at the school office. Advance tickets are $3, and there is a $4 charge for tickets at the door.
