Walk your dog for others less fortunate
The Frontier Animal Society’s spring Dog Walk, a major fundraiser for the animal shelter which is as much fun for the dogs getting walked as it is for the walkers, will be held on Saturday, May 28th. “People who want to participate can either walk their own dog or walk a dog from the shelter, but if they want to walk a shelter dog, they have to call ahead of time,” explained Joyce Dekker of the Frontier Animal Society.
The registration for the walk will be at 9:30 am, on the day of the walk, at David Lepitre’s printing shop on Dufferin Street, where the walk will begin. The ‘dog parade’ will go down Maple and take the bike trail all the way to Beebe Memorial Park where refreshments will be served to man and beast.
To take part in the Dog Walk, people must make a pledge of at least $10 but often they are able to collect more from friends, neighbours or relatives. Tax receipts can be issued for amounts of $10 or more. To get a pledge form, call the shelter at 819 876-7785.
