Cookshire Fair BBQ this Saturday
Forover twenty years the Cookshire Fair Board has been hosting a very popular beef and pork BBQ to raise funds for the Cookshire Fair. That BBQ will be held this Saturday, May 28th, at the MacAulay Centre of the Cookshire Fairgrounds, beginning at 5 pm, and after hearing the menu from organizer Mac Fraser, no wonder it`s so popular! Besides the beef and pork, cooked to perfection by Sylvain Crete, also on the all-you-can-eat menu is roast potatoes, mixed vegetables, mushroom gravy, cole slaw, home-made rolls, crudités and dip, horseradish, sour cream and applesauce, home-made cake for dessert, and lots of coffee and juice to wash it all down. Kids under five eat for free.
Following the feast, Dave Bessant and his band will take to the stage and provide dancing music all evening, beginning at around 9:00 pm. “Everything is done by volunteers so all of our profits go right towards the Fair. We’re expecting about five hundred people,” said Mr. Fraser.
Financing country fairs is always a tremendous challenge for fair boards. “It’s not a good time for nonprofit organizations but we try to look on the positive side,” added Mr. Fraser.
