Needless Spending

Stanstead Journal - - FORUM -

Aswe reported, Champlain and Bishop’s are suing every town that they can find responsible for the major flooding that they suffered last fall. The indecency of the manoeuvre is obvious. This is a case of one publicly funded entity trying to be paid by other publicly funded ones. Quebec should immediately step in and save a couple of million in lawyer fees right away by compensating Champlain and Bishop’s. The question is not to have the Supreme Court of Canada decide in 2021 who was responsible but to see to it that our money is well spent. Here it is wasted.

It’sofficial. This year’s theme for Hatley’s Canada Day Parade is “Canadian Vacations”. So decorate your float or your bicycle and join the parade! Do it for the glamour – thousands of people line the parade route to watch and cheer – or do it for the thousands of dollars in prize money to give away to the best and most original floats. Win or lose, it’s always fun to be part of this 103 year-old tradition which will start, as usual, at 11:00 am on July 1st.

The organizers of the Canada Day Celebration in Hatley are putting the finishing touches on the entertainment schedule for the day, including a couple of new additions to the line-up, so stay tuned for more details closer to the event date!
