Comedy Show Upcoming at the Haskell

Stanstead Journal - - FORUM - Madeline Mulholland Stanstead

Comingup this weekend, on Saturday, June 11th, Stanstead’s Cultural and Recreational Committee is hosting its’ annual Comedy Show at the Haskell Opera House. The proceeds of the event are to help fund social and cultural activities for the town and all citizens are encouraged to buy tickets and attend, as a good time is guaranteed for all. If you cannot attend, perhaps consider purchasing the tickets as a gift for friends or family, as the comedians lined up for Saturday night are funny enough to hold their own in Montreal venues that typically host the renowned Comedy Festival and cater to audiences that are difficult to please.

The tickets are $20 and some seats are still available. The SCRC hopes the turnout will be good, as the committee cannot continue to host events that are not well attended. As Stanstead citizens are known to complain about having ‘nothing to do’, a Montreal Comedy Festival calibre show is hardly something to scoff at, and it sure beats watching television and griping about boredom. So, if you want to have an evening of laughs and don’t want to travel far, contact the SCRC and purchase a ticket before they are sold out. Included in the price of the tickets are an invitation to the aftershow party at Checkpoint Charlie’s where a 2 for 1 coupon is offered on your first drink and guests are invited to meet the comedians. Tickets are available at Proxim Pharmacy, Millie’s Diner or at the door. For a preview of the comedians’ acts you can go to the Stanstead Cultural and Recreational Center Facebook page and check out the comedians’ vidoes.
