Townshippers’ Day 2011: Looking For Local Artisans, Talent And Flavour
Withthe beginning of summer now upon us, the members of the 2011 Townshippers’ Day committee are gearing up, already looking for exhibitors to display the talents and tastes of the Eastern Townships at Townshippers’ Day in September. If you are an artisan, food vendor or entertainer who would like to participate in this year’s big event, contact Townshippers’ Association right away to obtain your request form.
Each year, Townshippers’ Day brings together people from all across the region for an annual one-day event and celebration aimed at recognizing the vitality and creativity of the Eastern Townships English-speaking community, including its artists and artisans, musicians and dancers, writers and photographers and local entrepreneurs. The day has always served as a time for people to reconnect with long-lost acquaintances and, sometimes, become reacquainted with long-lost roots to the area. This year, Townshippers’ Day will feature local music for all tastes, activities for the whole family, good food and good fun, all surrounded by a showcase of talents from all corners of the region. The hard-working members of this year’s Townshippers’ Day committee are (1st row, Left to Right): Jim Kanner, Bev Goodsell, Marise Trépanier, Lynn Wood. (2nd row L to R): Edwin John Sullivan, Jennifer Reinbold, Wayne Stratton, Damon Cox, James Runciman, Jody Stone, Peggy Alger. Last row L to R: Chris Goodsell, Ronald Goodsell, Ross Murray, A.J. Bédard, Paul Stuart, Debbie Bishop. Absent from photo: Ingrid Marini, Kate Wisdom, Christine Allard and Salim Hashmi.
The Townshippers’ Day committee invites anyone from the community who would like to display their arts and crafts, talents or culinary treats in Stanstead this September to send in their request forms as soon as possible. This year, for the first time, Townshippers’ Association will be offering an ‘early-bird’ special for all artisans and food vendors: any individual or group that signs up before July 31 will be eligible for a discounted participation fee. As always, registration will be done on a first-come, first-served basis, but priority will be given to artisans and food vendors from Stanstead and surrounding areas.
For this, the 32nd edition of Townshippers’ Day, the events of September 17th will only be complete with a rich and diverse number of displays and exhibits from the community. We hope you’ll join us!
