The10th edition of the Magog Relay for Life, held at Merry Point last Friday night, raised more than $210,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. More than two hundred cancer survivors launched this year’s event with the opening Survivor’s Walk. In twelve hours, around six hundred and forty walkers took turns all night long walking around the track which was illuminated by more than 6,400 luminaries.
Amelie Gérin was happy to be this year’s honorary president. She encouraged all those who took part, reminding them that the Relay for Life is a unique event and a remarkable opportunity to demystify cancer and deliver the message of hope for people affected by the disease.
This annual fundraiser is a celebration of life with three aims: to celebrate cancer survivors; pay homage to loved ones affected by cancer; and to struggle together with the hope of one day eradicating the terrible disease.
