Sold out fast
Yesterday, CAB RH Rediker director Mylene LaBonté was thrilled to receive the $9000 cheque from the organizers of the first annual CAB golf tournament, held on June 17th at the Dufferin Heights Golf Club. “We don’t traditionally do fundraising events at the CAB but we’re very happy with the results of this tournament. It will allow us to improve services to the community or perhaps invest in the infrastructure at the centre. There is a greater demand for Meals on Wheels and we have a great need of a more efficient work space for that service,” commented Ms. LaBonté.
“Our tickets were sold out ten or twelve days after we announced the tournament,” said Robert Galazzo who organized it along with fellow golfers Robert Bilodeau, André Gaulin, Gisele Galazzo and Denis Parent. Ms. LaBonté and Josianne Caillet, of the CAB, also helped in the organization of the popular event. “We had thirty-two foursomes for the golf tournament and one hundred and forty-eight for the mechoui dinner. We couldn’t have served any more people than that,” explained Mr. Galazzo.
Special prizes were won by the following golfers during the tournament: Nancy Layton for the ‘closest to the pin on the 7th hole’; and Alain Grenier won the putting contest. Nobody was lucky enough to win the $5000 prize by the Stanstead IGA for a hole in one on the 14th hole. Better luck next time!
“We hope to repeat the event next year and I’d like to thank all the participants, all of the sponsors, and volunteers Wayne Smith, Lynn Wood and Linda Durocher who also helped,” concluded Mr. Galazzo.
