Stanstead’sAmy Wolfe (seen in the photo with Jean Fluet on page 1), who was one of the last donors at yesterday’s Blood Donor Clinic which is put on every year by the Volunteer Firefighters of Stanstead, helped bring the total tally for the day up to 94 donors. Organizers had been hoping to reach 100, but perhaps the weather was too nice for that. “”It went very smoothly and most people were able to donate,” commented firefighter Jean Fluet, the main organizer of the event. “Last year we had to turn away ten or twelve people for things like recent dental work, being low in iron or other things that are checked in the screening process,” added Mr. Fluet. About half a dozen people came in to give blood for the first time while a few teenagers who arrived at the donor clinic learnt that they had to be at least eighteen years old to give the ‘gift of life’.
