Bluegrass On The Border
The Haskell Opera House, sitting right on the line between Stanstead, Quebec and Derby Line, Vermont, will once again host an evening of topnotch bluegrass by Banjo Dan and the Mid-nite Plowboys. This year’s concert is set for Friday, July 15th, starting at 7:30 PM.
For over a decade Banjo Dan and the band have been one of the top draws at the Haskell, and it’s no wonder. With a reputation for consistent excellence and a dedication to delivering a show full of energy, variety and fun, the Plowboys are one of the most active and popular acoustic acts in the northeastern US, and certainly among the best-loved musical groups in Vermont.
Or to plain old good bluegrass music. The Plowboys have their own take on this style, specializing in original songs with regional themes, plus adaptations of great songs from all over the musical map. Their Haskell show will feature old and new Banjo Dan favorites, rousing fiddle tunes, gospel quartets and well-known and obscure country and folk gems. The band also plans to introduce some new songs from recent recording projects. Expect the unexpected, but rest assured – this band delivers some of the finest acoustic music to be heard in these parts.
