Town to Purchase New Municipal Works Truck
August’s municipal town council meeting was low key, as municipal business was dealt with in less than an hour. Most business addressed was of the mundane variety. However, as was mentioned at previous meetings, last night the town definitively addressed their need for a new truck to replace the decrepit top-kick currently in use.
The present truck is old and the last repairs cost Stanstead approximately $9,000, according to councillor, Wayne Stratton. The floor of the truck is rotting and it appears future repair costs will only escalate from this point on. It has therefore been decided by council that a new truck must be purchased and last night’s meeting finalized that decision with a vote to do so. The new truck has already been chosen. It is larger than the previous vehicle and can better serve the work requirements than the previous one. The truck will be purchased new and will be financed over 60 months. Taxes will not be raised to purchase the truck, as this was a priority for council when making the decision.
