Memphremagog Watershed Association helps Vermont’s North Country Chamber’s Welcome Center’s Green Efforts!
Dona Kulakowski, a Welcome Center volunteer has made it her mission to water and care for the Welcome Center’s lovely flower arrangements supplied by Spates The Florist. Here Dona is pictured filling the watering can from the Memphremagog Watershed Association’s (MWA) rain barrel that saves town water by collecting rain water for use on plants, lawns and such. The MWA is lending the Welcome Center this beautifully hand-painted rain barrel while we sell raffle tickets to benefit the association. In the background can be seen some of the good work the MWA is involved with: plantings for stream bed erosion prevention, The Shoreline Restoration Project started in 2009. This work was a factor in keeping the Welcome Center dry during the floods of 2011.
If you would like a chance for this rain barrel to be in your yard and support the work of the MWA, tickets are available at the Welcome Center and other venues around the region.
