Boy Finds Kit­ten, Re­fuses Re­ward Money

The re­sponse to the lost kit­ten story posted in last week’s Stanstead Jour­nal cre­ated a huge amount of feed­back, and over 20 phone calls, from lo­cals in­quir­ing as to the fate of lit­tle Spooky. Due to ev­ery­one’s kind concern, it was sug­gested I write a brief up­date on Spooky and her where­abouts.

The real story is that this kit­ten was not orig­i­nally ‘wanted’ by this mother, but was des­per­ately wanted by my daugh­ter. This co­nun­drum has been shared by many par­ents. The whin­ing, beg­ging child ask­ing to keep one pet too many and the par­ent try­ing to find a means to say no and re­ally mean it! So, I posed this chal­lenge to my eight year old daugh­ter: She had to show she was re­spon­si­ble enough to own her own pet and care for it. She was asked to
