Gaiters foot­ball train­ing camp gets un­der­way

Bishop’s Gaiters foot­ball train­ing camp is set to get un­der­way Wed­nes­day morn­ing at Coul­ter Field, as prepa­ra­tions be­gin for the 60th con­sec­u­tive foot­ball sea­son at Bishop’s Univer­sity.

Nearly 100 stu­dent-ath­letes re­ported to the Len­noxville cam­pus yes­ter­day, in­clud­ing 59 re­turnees from the 2010 squad that went 5-4 and fin- ished tied for third in the Que­bec Univer­sity Foot­ball League.

Tony Ad­dona’s team is sched­uled to prac­tice each day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Coul­ter Field for the next two weeks, be­fore head­ing to Toronto to play the York Lions in a non-con­fer­ence game on Satur­day, Au­gust 27.

Prac­tices are nor­mally open to the pub­lic. (Note that times are sub­ject to change, and fans are ad­vised to check the Gaiters’ web­site and twit­ter ac­count [@Bish­op­sGaiters] for up­dates.)

The Gaiters start the reg­u­lar sea­son on Fri­day, Septem­ber 2, as they visit the Sher­brooke Vert & Or.
