Mr. and Mrs. Ayer
Down from Nova Scotia for the first time in 5 years during Fair season are Bud and Carol Ayer, happily married couple for over 50 years and 6th generation of the Ayer’s family. Now I don’t know about you but that name rings a bell! Mr. Ayer, (Bud’s great, great, great great-grandfather) back in 1849 donated the land that we all have come to know as the Ayer’s Cliff Fair grounds. In its first years, the Fair would ride from town to town for 4 years until it called Ayer’s Cliff its home.
When asking Mr. Ayer what he likes most about the Fair, he replies, with a childish smile: “I have to say the Machinery; it’s impressive. I like Tractors and Tanks, there are no Tanks here but the machinery is still nice.” They even got the chance to meet Emerson Drive, the band that played Saturday evening. I hope they enjoyed their time at the Fair.
On behalf of all the Fair-goers who enjoy it every year: Thank you Mr. Ayer!
