Bread and Puppet Theater Presents...
The 10th Annual Politcal Leaf Peeping!
The last event of this season at the Bread and Puppet Theater is the 10th Annual Political Leaf Peeping, on Sunday, September 25th. Starting at 2pm there will be music and short shows on the grounds of the Bread and Puppet Farm on the Northeast Kingdom’s scenic Rt. 122. For those unfamiliar with the 47-yearold performing group, there will be a talk and a tour of the Bread and Puppet Museum at 1 pm, beginning at the outdoor bread oven by the museum entrance. Freshly-baked sourdough rye, slathed with aioli, a Spanish garlic spread, will be served throughout the afternoon. The Cheap Art Bus and the Museum Store offer a wide variety of origional art, samizdat publications and posters. Bread and Puppet›s bright 2012 Man=Carrot Calendar and a selection of handprinted banners will be for sale.
At 4pm the resident puppeteers, joined by friends and volunteers, will present Man of Flesh and Cardboard, A Cardboard Opera, a show about the soldier Bradley Manning, that will tour Europe this fall. The show will take place in the Paper-Mache Cathedral/Dirt Floor Theater behind the Museum. The Cathedral is worth a second look: the walls and ceiling are covered in layers of paintings and sculptures. (It’s also unheated, so dress warmly!) If you miss this performance, you can catch Bread and Puppet’s Man=Carrot Circus on October 6th at Lyndon State College.
The Bread and Puppet Museum continues to be open daily ten to six, but only until November 1st. Admission is free, donations are appreciated. The Museum is in Glover, on Rt. 122, off Rt 16 and I-91 exit 24/25. For more information call 802-525-3031 or go to www.breadandpuppet.org.
