The 10th An­nual Polit­cal Leaf Peep­ing!

The last event of this sea­son at the Bread and Pup­pet The­ater is the 10th An­nual Po­lit­i­cal Leaf Peep­ing, on Sun­day, Septem­ber 25th. Start­ing at 2pm there will be mu­sic and short shows on the grounds of the Bread and Pup­pet Farm on the North­east King­dom’s scenic Rt. 122. For those un­fa­mil­iar with the 47-yearold per­form­ing group, there will be a talk and a tour of the Bread and Pup­pet Mu­seum at 1 pm, be­gin­ning at the out­door bread oven by the mu­seum en­trance. Freshly-baked sour­dough rye, slathed with aioli, a Span­ish gar­lic spread, will be served through­out the af­ter­noon. The Cheap Art Bus and the Mu­seum Store of­fer a wide va­ri­ety of ori­gional art, samiz­dat pub­li­ca­tions and posters. Bread and Pup­pet›s bright 2012 Man=Car­rot Cal­en­dar and a se­lec­tion of hand­printed ban­ners will be for sale.

At 4pm the res­i­dent pup­peteers, joined by friends and vol­un­teers, will present Man of Flesh and Card­board, A Card­board Opera, a show about the sol­dier Bradley Man­ning, that will tour Europe this fall. The show will take place in the Pa­per-Mache Cathe­dral/Dirt Floor The­ater be­hind the Mu­seum. The Cathe­dral is worth a sec­ond look: the walls and ceil­ing are cov­ered in lay­ers of paint­ings and sculp­tures. (It’s also un­heated, so dress warmly!) If you miss this per­for­mance, you can catch Bread and Pup­pet’s Man=Car­rot Cir­cus on Oc­to­ber 6th at Lyn­don State Col­lege.

The Bread and Pup­pet Mu­seum con­tin­ues to be open daily ten to six, but only un­til Novem­ber 1st. Ad­mis­sion is free, do­na­tions are ap­pre­ci­ated.
