Stanstead Journal - - FROM PAGE ONE -

There should be a full house at Stanstead’s new arena this weekend: it is the official opening. On Monday morning there was a line-up for the free tickets to the Pat Burns Arena’s Opening Ceremony and for the Exhibition Game by the Canadiens Alumni, and at only two tickets per family, they went fast. However, thanks to modern technology, the Opening Ceremony and the Canadiens game will be web-streamed live so that even those without tickets can witness the historic occasion and the fun. Viewers will be able to find the link to the web stream on the Town of Stanstead’s website. Friday night’s Chinese buffet dinner is also sold out, however, there are still tickets available for the Saturday supper. Tickets aren’t needed for the other events going on, such as the Old Timers Game, the Border Minor hockey game, the figure skating show, the Champlain Cougars game and the free skate, all scheduled for Saturday. “We’re hoping to have the Wall of Honour and all of the seat plaques installed before the weekend,” mentioned Ross Murray of Stanstead College. There are several arena seats still up for sale at $1000 each. Each sponsored seat features a plaque that can be engraved with up to 50 characters.
