Roadwork in area

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - Victoria Vanier Stanstead East

Route

143 between Burrough’s Falls and Stanstead will be closed until September 29th as workers replace a culvert near the Tetreault Road where it was recently paved. The road is open to local traffic only. Drivers must take a detour via autoroute 55 and route 141.

The 55 north is now closed until November 13th, 2011, so Transport workers can construct the new weigh station and the new exit from the 55. Directives from the department as well as the signs that have been put up were confusing therefore, after a drive around the area and after speaking to Transport department workers, it seems like, for now, the best detour for drivers coming north from the border, as long as they are not driving heavy trucks, is to take exit ramp #2, then take the 143 until the Curtis Road, and take the Curtis Road back to the 55 North. Heavy trucks must use the detours suggested by the Transport Department’s road signs.
