Dangerous driver arrested in Stanstead
Last Thursday morning, the police arrested 21 year-old Ernest Irwin who lives in the Beebe sector of Stanstead. Mr. Irwin was accused of putting his own life and that of a passenger on his all-terrain vehicle in danger the Sunday before when an SQ officer patrolling the area saw him accelerating, decelerating and pulling ‘wheelies’ on his vehicle late in the afternoon. When the officer tried to intercept him on Elm Street where he was riding, the accused escaped arrest by taking off down Junction road. The suspect, who was known to the police officer who witnessed the event and easily identifiable since he wasn’t wearing a helmet, was eventually arrested near his home.
