Property values going up around lake

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS -

The tiny hamlet of Austin is now the fourth small municipality within the Memphremagog MRC where the total value of the properties is more than $500 million. Property values for houses, land and businesses within the town climbed from roughly $488 million three years ago, when properties were last evaluated, to $578 million for the 2012 property evaluation roll. The increase was minimal on commercial or agricultural properties; it was the mansions near the lake that were primarily responsible for the increase with one property reaching a value of $7 million.

The three other municipalities with property values of more than $500 million are Stanstead Township at $501 million, Orford Township at $596 million, and Potton Township at $624 million.
