The fight against prostate cancer – a cause that touches Nancy Layton
A benefit breakfast dedicated to the health of men for the fight against cancer of the prostate took place at the Delta Sherbrooke Hotel last Thursday, raising $27,362.71 for Procure. Dr. Michel Carmel, chief urologist of the CHUS and the president of the organizing committee for “Unis contre le Cancer de la Prostate”, announced the theme of the event, “Cancer of the prostate – the silent killer”, to the almost two hundred who attended.
Nancy Layton, the sister of the late Jack Layton, spoke to the invited guests about the impact of cancer on the family. Both Bishop’s University principal Michael Goldbloom and actor and public speaker Hugo Dubé were the honorary presidents of the event.
