Region gets another $300,000 for Tourism
Last week, Tourism Minister Nicole Menard, along with the general director of Tourisme Cantons de l’Est (TCE), Alain Larouche, announced another $300,000 for the Entente de partneriat regional en tourisme de la region des Cantons de l’Est. This additional financial support surpasses the measures announced in the 2011-2012 budget of an envelope of $1 million for the regions wishing to develop touristic projects.
“Since its signing in 2007, the Entente de partneriat regional en tourisme de la region des Cantons de l’Est has contributed to the realization of 19 projects with investments of almost $24 million. It proves to me that bringing together mobilisation of various interveners of the region bears fruit. I am therefore very happy to underline today the pursuit of this productive partnership in this magnificent region,” said Minister Menard.
“It is with great satisfaction that I see that the Tourism sector of the Eastern Townships improves and changes thanks to this agreement partnership, profiting visitors who are more and more numerous in discovering our beautiful region,” commented Minister Monique Gagnon-Tremblay ( Relations internationals et ministre responsable de la region de l’Estrie) who is presently visiting Spain.
“I am proud of the contribution of our govern- ment to the development and consolidation of our tourism sector. Tourism has become a major source of job creation and an important tool for the economic development of the region,” mentioned Orford MNA Pierre Reid.
