Gaiters fall to No. 3 Car­leton in fi­nal non-con­fer­ence tune up

A dou­ble-dou­ble by Ken­dall Ma­cleod (Brockville, Ont.) led the No. 3-ranked Car­leton Ravens to a 65-43 win over the Bishop’s Gaiters in non-con­fer­ence bas­ket­ball ac­tion at the Mitchell Gym, Sun­day. Ma­cleod scored 13 points and grabbed a teamhigh 15 re­bounds for the Ravens, who led 24-18 at half­time and never trailed in the con­test.

The game was a tough, phys­i­cal con­test, with the teams com­bin­ing for 53 fouls, and three play­ers foul­ing out of the game. Car­leton went to the free-throw line 36 times, mak­ing 26, while the Gaiters went 11-for-18 from the char­ity stripe.

The Gaiters (4-5 CIS) were led by 12 points by Jessy Roy (Val d’or, Que.), while Cather­ine Ron­deau (Sher­brooke, Que.) added nine. An­nick Stephanny Charles (Laval, Que.) grabbed a teamhigh eight re­bounds.

The Gaiters com­mit­ted 32 turnovers, and were out­re­bounded 49-35. Bas­kets were dif­fi­cult to come by, as both teams shot 29% from the field, and the Gaiters made only two of 13 three-point at­tempts.

The Gaiters are next in ac­tion on Satur­day, Novem­ber 12, as they host the UQAM Ci­tadins in their league opener. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
