Balanced attack leads Rouge et Or over Men’s Basketball
Abalanced attack led the Laval Rouge et Or over the Bishop’s Gaiters, 86-59, in Quebec university basketball league last Friday night at the PEPS gymnasium in Quebec City. Six Rouge et Or players scored in double figures, most notably a double-double from Boris Hadzimuratovic. The Bosnian scored 13 Resorts Association, Canada West Ski Areas Association, Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance, and the Canadian Snowsports Association. points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the home side, who led from wire to wire.
Laval (6-8, 3-6 CIS, 1-1 Quebec) ran out to a 25-14 first-quarter lead, and broke the game open with a 12-0 run to open the second period. The Rouge et Or led 50-24 at halftime, and by as many as 33 points in the game. Etienne Labrecque led the Laval attack with 14 points, with Hugues Ryan and Olivier Lefebvre scoring 11 each, and Thibaud Dizutter and Christian Deslauriers-trottier chipping in with ten.
The Gaiters (5-7, 5-4 CIS, 0-2 Quebec) were led by Onnex Blackwood (Scarborough, Ont.), who had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Mitchell Pierman (Perth, Ont.) scored 12 points in his first career start, while Mike Andrews added 11.
Laval outshot the Gaiters 43% to 32%, including going 40% from the three-point line. Laval also outrebounded Bishop’s 39-31, and scored 20 points off Bishop’s turnovers.
The Gaiters are next in action on Friday, November 25, coincidentally also at Concordia. Tipoff for Friday’s game is set for 8 p.m.
