Louis Garneau may move to Derby

Louis Garneau USA, a cy­cling cloth­ing and gear man­u­fac­tur­ing com­pany based in New­port, is tak­ing steps to ex­pand its Ver­mont op­er­a­tions by build­ing a $7 mil­lion plant in Derby. The com­pany is try­ing to get per­mits to build a two-story, 60,040 square foot plant for man­u­fac­tur­ing and ware­hous­ing. It would also in­clude re­tail and of­fice space. Over one hun­dred em­ploy­ees could even­tu­ally work at the plant. About ninety-five em­ploy­ees work at the plant in New­port.

Louis Garneau Sports, the par­ent com­pany, is based near Que­bec City.
