More than $1 million for arts and culture
On November 25th, Saint Francois MNA Minister Monique Gagnon-tremblay, the president of the CRE de l’estrie Maurice Bernier, as well as their partners were happy to announce the signing of a new agreement that aims to reinforce arts and culture in the Estrie region.
This agreement represents an investment of more than one million dollars which will be divided like this: $376,500 to the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Quebec (CALQ), $300,000 for the CRE Estrie, $180,000 for the city of Sherbrooke and $75,000 for the Forum Jeunesse Estrie.
With a duration of three years, the agreement will allow for the realization of projects and initiatives aimed to promote artists of the region, the consolidation of cultural organizations and improve the access of youth to arts and culture. More specifically, the agreement has four aspects: the support of professional artists and writers at every stage in their career; the support of professional artistic organizations on the Sherbrooke territory; the support of initiatives of the MRCS to facilitate the access of youth to culture and the support of the next generation of artists.
“In the name of the Quebec government, I am thrilled with this new agreement to develop the arts and culture in the Estrie. It is the result of a fruitful collaboration between several partners who all wish to recognize the contribution of artists, organizations and the new generation of artists in the development of a strong regional identity,” mentioned the Ministre responsable de la region de l’estrie, Monique Gagnon-tremblay.
