Memphremagog Hospital Foundation Hit and Miss

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - Staff Magog

Inthe strange world of numbers, they can lie. And in this year’s result of the second annual MRC wide fundraiser of the Memphremagog Hospital Foundation, they do. Way under last year’s result at $86.394.73, it does not reflect that the Town of Magog cut its contribution by $15,000 and that, last year, two big contributions totaling over $12,000 were given.

While Magog’s contribution was still $10,000, the Town of Stanstead, who is the main beneficiary along with Mansonville, did not contribute. Private citizens in Stanstead raised $3,249.42. Mansonville, officially Potton, gave a thousand dollars of municipal funds. In the real ‘miss’ category, neither Hatley nor Quebec’s own theocracy, SaintBenoît-du-lac, raised any money, the latter’s goal being ninety-six dollars. Eastman was the real giver at 143% over their objective, raising over nine thousand dollars, seven of which came from the municipality coffers.
