CRE announces grants
Atlast week’s meeting of the Conference regionale des elus de l’estrie (CRE) which was held at the Delta Sherbrooke, officers announced which projects would get financial support from the organization. Fifteen projects along with a special agreement were chosen to share the envelope of $547,510.
Only two local projects are getting funding from this organization. A project to stabilize the shores of the East Creek in the Memphremagog MRC in order to reduce the amount of sediment and nutrients reaching Lake Lovering and promote the conservation and re-establishment of aquatic animal habitats will get $26,000. The other local project, which is getting $24,000, aims to stop unnatural waterways by stopping the erosion on Khartoum, Feuillade and Jacynthe roads which is affecting the Parker Lake watershed.
Other projects receiving financing are: Universite rurale quebecoise 2013, $50,000; special project to support exportation, $30,000; Culture de Coeur – Antenne Estrie, $70,500; Le plaisir d’entreprendre au feminine regional seminar, $5,000; Coordination and development of environmental bio-industries, $24,000; a plan to sensitize employers to the competencies of immigrants and the importance of hiring them, $20,000; Estrie manpower report, $10,000; Service preretour immigrants, $15,000.
