Now time to renew cat and dog licenses

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS -

It’s time to renew your cat or dog’s license if you live in a municipality served by the SPA de l’estrie. The deadline is February 15th.

The SPA takes in more than 7000 cats and dogs each year. Of those, about 50% are unidentified and are never reunited with their owners. 99% of those animals found wearing their license medallions are soon back in their homes.

To buy a license medallion for your pet call 819 821-4727, option 4, or fill in a form on the SPA Estrie website. The cost is $30 for cats and $40 for dogs. If the animals have been neutered, there is a $10 discount. The money from the sale of the licenses is used to help feed and care for more than 7000 animals, to neuter and adopt out more than 2000 from that number, to rescue wounded animals or those in distress 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to offer patrol and inspection services to 225,000 Townshippers, and to respond to roughly 15,000 requests from citizens.
