Stanstead fin­ishes third

Stanstead’sPat Burns Arena was host to the North­east­ern Di­vi­sion tour­na­ment of the Mid­west Prep Hockey League this past week­end. Three teams of the five play­ing this week­end were con­tenders for the top seed di­vi­sion po­si­tion head­ing into the Fe­bru­ary play­offs in St. Cather­ines, On­tario. Three rounds were played Fri­day, with Stanstead Col­lege win­ning their game by a com­fort­able mar­gin against Rice Me­mo­rial, with a final score of 11-2. Stanstead’s Mark Jankowski scored an amaz­ing 6 goals, tak­ing the di­vi­sion scor­ing lead. This win gave Stanstead a first place tie in the stand­ings with St. An­drew’s Col­lege. Satur­day saw four more games, with Stanstead Col­lege los­ing it’s first of two games against St. An­drew’s Col­lege, with a final score of 1-4. Stanstead tied their sec­ond game against Edge School, with a final score of 4-4. As Sun­day morn­ing dawned, Stanstead knew they needed a win against Ri­d­ley Col­lege in or­der to main­tain their now sec­ond-place rank­ing. Un­for­tu­nately, they only Mark Jankowski: Stanstead Col­lege’s Jankowski takes lead in di­vi­sion scor­ing. see more pic­tures page 16 man­aged to sal­vage a 2-2 tie in the lat­ter part of the game, slid­ing Stanstead into third place head­ing into the play­offs at Ri­d­ley Col­lege in Fe­bru­ary.

Stanstead Col­lege’s Girls Hockey Team was on the road this week­end, play­ing in Burling­ton, Ver­mont at the North Amer­i­can Prep Hockey As­so­ci­a­tion League’s Mc­mas­ter Di­vi­sion tour­na­ment. Stanstead won all four games played against women’s teams from across Canada, to earn first place rank­ing in the Mc­mas­ter Di­vi­sion. Stanstead’s Girls Hockey Team will be host­ing the Di­vi­sion Cham­pi­onship on the week­end of Fe­bru­ary 17th through 19th at the Pat Burns Arena.
