Stanstead finishes third
Stanstead’sPat Burns Arena was host to the Northeastern Division tournament of the Midwest Prep Hockey League this past weekend. Three teams of the five playing this weekend were contenders for the top seed division position heading into the February playoffs in St. Catherines, Ontario. Three rounds were played Friday, with Stanstead College winning their game by a comfortable margin against Rice Memorial, with a final score of 11-2. Stanstead’s Mark Jankowski scored an amazing 6 goals, taking the division scoring lead. This win gave Stanstead a first place tie in the standings with St. Andrew’s College. Saturday saw four more games, with Stanstead College losing it’s first of two games against St. Andrew’s College, with a final score of 1-4. Stanstead tied their second game against Edge School, with a final score of 4-4. As Sunday morning dawned, Stanstead knew they needed a win against Ridley College in order to maintain their now second-place ranking. Unfortunately, they only Mark Jankowski: Stanstead College’s Jankowski takes lead in division scoring. see more pictures page 16 managed to salvage a 2-2 tie in the latter part of the game, sliding Stanstead into third place heading into the playoffs at Ridley College in February.
Stanstead College’s Girls Hockey Team was on the road this weekend, playing in Burlington, Vermont at the North American Prep Hockey Association League’s Mcmaster Division tournament. Stanstead won all four games played against women’s teams from across Canada, to earn first place ranking in the Mcmaster Division. Stanstead’s Girls Hockey Team will be hosting the Division Championship on the weekend of February 17th through 19th at the Pat Burns Arena.
