branches of the Royal Air Force Es­cap­ing So­ci­ety as well as from the Amer­i­can Es­cape and Eva­sion So­ci­ety. Vet­er­ans mil­i­tary groups also pre­sented plaques to Mr. Brus, re­fer­ring to him as a “for­got­ten hero of the Sec­ond World War”.

A con­tribut­ing mem­ber of the Ayer’s Cliff com­mu­nity, Mr. Brus was also ac­tive with the Que­bec Farmer’s As­so­ci­a­tion, the Ayer’s Cliff Fair, St. Barthelemy Church and the Stanstead Plowmen’s As­so­ci­a­tion.

John Brus was given this Com­mem­o­ra­tive plaque by his fam­ily in 2006. Seen with Rita and John in the photo are five of their six chil­dren (l. to r.): Lucy, since de­ceased, René, Hans, Diane and Gary.
