Raymond Parent Skating Rink
As of yesterday afternoon, Raymond Parent can walk a little prouder! After nearly 40 years of upkeep of the outside skating rink in Stanstead on Park Street, Tuesday afternoon the Town of Stanstead held a small inauguration ceremony to name the rink “Raymond Parent Skating Rink”. At the monthly town meeting, it was unanimously decided to proceed with the naming of the skating rink. For Mr. Parent, taking care of the rink is not a job, it is a passion. There were about 20 people present at the inauguration, including counsellors Guy Ouellet, Michèle Richard and Jody Stone and our Mayor, Mr. Philippe Dutil, gave a very nice speech about Mr. Parent followed by Mr. Parent’s son Marc, another “ice-fanatic”, who proudly said a few words about his father. A short but sweet thank you speech was thereafter given by the man of the hour. Afterwards, warm beverages and doughnuts were offered by the town thanks to Marise Trépanier from the Stanstead Cultural and Recreational Association. Congratulations to Mr. Parent for his determination and hard work. This designation is well deserved.
